Christmas Tag ’14
Thank you to The Enthusiast for this idea! I know it’ll be weird but I’m not writing a top ten today. I thought this would be a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit even though I will be working today and tomorrow. So here we go!
The Christmas Tag
- What is your favorite Christmas film?
I’m obsessssedd. I’m in love and I don’t care who knows it! I know guys, I am a tad bit obsessed with Elf.
- Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Oh yes, lots of them. My most memorable white Christmas was when we had a foot of snow (I was six or seven at the time) and I could barely walk through the snow since I will always be a shorty.
- Where do you usually spend your holiday?
On Christmas Eve I head over to my grandma and grandpa’s house and meet with the whole family on my mom’s side. It’s a standard tradition but it’s always a sweet one. We have some bourbon slush, we eat some ham and then do a small gift exchange. On Christmas however, we mainly just sit around and watch Christmas movies all day. Which makes me extremely happy.
- What is your favorite Christmas song?
I love Judy Garland and Zooey Deschanel. This is a hard choice because I love both stylings so I’m going to cheat and just saw “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in general is my fav!
- Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
We use to do it on Christmas day then it switched to Christmas Eve but we actually decided to not do gifts this year, instead we’re spending the day together. Which is nice, really really nice. No stress, just family time.
- Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Rudolph, Vixen, Dancer, Dasher, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, Donner 🙂
- What holiday traditions are you most looking forward to this year?
If I decide to not work at my second serving job this year and say see ya, then I will be most looking forward to Christmas Eve night… however I’m not sure my serving job will let me not work so it’s truly a toss up. I’m not sure what will happen. I will enjoy watching Christmas movies with the fam on Christmas day though.
Oh it’s fake. It’s a Martha Stewart Christmas tree that either has gold or colored lights. I go for the traditional gold. I have no patience for a real tree because it’s killing trees and I feel sick and crappy when we do have one. Light a candle with a pine tree scent and it’s almost like a real tree, done!
- What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?
I don’t know. Don’t really have a set holiday favorite. I do enjoy fudge, spiked eggnog and those pretzels that are dipped in icing… not exactly Christmasy but still delicious!
- Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I like both. I already gave my dad his birthday gift even though it’s in February because I didn’t want to wait. I genuinely want to give the person their present immediately after I buy it. It makes me happy. However, I can’t lie. I enjoy getting gifts. I like being surprised.
- What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I think I would have to say the dollhouse my parents bought for me when I was five or so. I remember my sister’s watching me open each box that contained doll furniture, or dolls to play with. I love playing with that dollhouse. It was a cute family moment.
- What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
NYC! I want to go ice skating, drink frozen hot chocolate and look at the large Christmas tree in Times Square. I’ve never been but New York seems like it would be magical around Christmas time.
- Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
I fail miserably. I throw items into bags and then give them to the person. I hate wrapping things, because I’m incredibly terrible at it.
- Most memorable holiday moment?
When I received a Super Nintendo for Christmas. I was so surprised that my parents let me have one. I never forgot how incredibly happy I was I hugged everyone in the room and practically cried. I still love that console.
A close second would be when my niece opened her kitchen set. It took awhile for my parents to set everything up but we all watched her play with the set for hours. She doesn’t completely understand Christmas just yet, but she’s getting there and it makes me happy that she can be excited about Santa and such.
- What made you realize the truth about Santa?
My dad told me, much to my mom’s dismay. I asked him and he didn’t want to lie, so he told me the truth. I was about six or so when he told me that Santa wasn’t real. I was genuinely bummed, so they pretended the Easter bunny and tooth fairy were real. I went with it for awhile but those beliefs didn’t last long either.
- Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I make them, but sticking to them is a different story. I have general goals, and I’ve completed a few of them but I’m trying to make them more attainable. I’ll be posting my resolutions next week!
- What makes the holidays special for you?
Family time and hanging out with my friends. I love singing Christmas songs and looking at decorations. It always seems like Christmas has a bit of magic to it.
Surprise 18. What is something new happening this Christmas that you’re excited about?
My sister had a baby six months ago, I’m glad he gets to be with us this year 🙂 .
Well I will not be posting until after Christmas, so happy holidays everyone! What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?
